Announcements and Important Events
The George Mason Athletic Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremonies over the weekend of October 9-10. Inductees and honorees will be recognized at the Friday night, October 9th home football game against Freedom-South Riding High School. Inductions will then be held on Saturday, October 10th in the Mustang Gym at the Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School. A reception will begin that evening at 5:30 p.m., and the induction ceremony will commence at 7:00 p.m.
Inductees and honorees include:
Steve Clinton (Class of 1980) (basketball and baseball)
Kate Jackson (Class of 2000) (basketball)
Ben Griffin (Class of 2002) (football, basketball, and soccer)
The 1998 state champion girls’ basketball team
Tim McCabe (Class of 1997) (soccer) – Special Achievement Award honoree for notable accomplishments in the face of adversity
Kenneth “Powers” Shutts (Class of 1957) (track) and Colleen Winzeler (Class of 2000) (cross-country and track) were also elected to the Hall but are unable to attend this year’s ceremonies and will defer induction until future ceremonies.
Food and beverages will be served at the Saturday night reception. The cost of admission is $15 per person. Individuals interested in attending may contact Joel Hamme at email@example.com to obtain advance tickets. Admissions will also be accepted at the door without prior reservations.
