Announcements and Important Events
George Mason provides comprehensive programs for physical training, including muscular strength, power, and endurance as well as applications of these to aspects of movement through training in agility, speed, and quickness. The programs follow a simple format of In-Season and Off-Season training on a year-round schedule. The level of training intensity is adjusted to fit the In-Season/Off-Season format.
The purpose of such programming is to engage as many individual athletes as possible in continuous physical development in order to reduce injury potential and support skills development in a timely and affordable way. GM’s programs permit participants to remain on campus for training during and after school and to participate at no cost to students. The programs are administered, designed, and monitored through the Athletic Department by experienced and credentialed persons whose knowledge and understanding of athletic development and physical conditioning provide a basis for close attention to the needs and concerns of individual athletes, both male and female.
The transition period between sports seasons is the time to begin as well as to change over programs. The Off-Season trainees move into the In-Season format, and novice trainees are welcome to begin their programs of development at such time. The cycle of In-Season to Off-Season back to In-Season occurs over and over throughout a year so that gains in physical development progress rather than start, stop, and start over again, with the potential of little actual development. The programs are designed to foster lasting personal commitments to athletic improvement and life-long physical activity.
